Free Blood Group Testing and Blood Donation Camp In A.M.U.

Health Information about HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B & C Provided to more than 3000 A.M.U. Students

    This is to inform you all that the Drug Society in association with A.M.U. Students Union, Junior Doctors Organisation, Blood Bank Department of Pathology JNMCH, V.C.C.T.C. Department of Microbilogy JNMCH, H.I.E.U. of  www.medbeats.com  and Aids Cell of IAMMS had successfully organised a Free Blood Group Testing and Blood Donation Camp in Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh on February 28th 2005.

The Camp also focuses on Health education regarding HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B & C Awareness Programme. The camp is really a success, great enthusiasm of blood donation is seen amongst A.M.U. Students.

There is a waiting list of Blood Donors in the camp. More than 70 Units of Blood ( Including rare blood groups) were donated which is to be utilized for poor and needy patients who do not effort to buy Blood and there is no available exchange. The Drug  Society is a non-political, non-profitable, charitable organization run by a group of students with philanthropic aim that includes supply of drugs and blood free of cost to poor and needy

More than 800 students got their blood tested for blood group. Around 3000 students received health education regarding HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis B & C Awareness Programme. Posters, banners, brochure etc were also distributed in the camp. Apart from this Counseling of Suspected Cases of HIV (history of contact, Chronic Diarrhoea, Chrinic Fever, Blood transfusion, Use of Infected Needle/rozar etc ) was also given in the camp and free HIV test was also done in these cases.

The main aim of the camp is motivation of students towards blood donation and restricting of entry of HIV is Aligarh Muslim University.

Mr. Naseem Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh Visited the camp twice despite their busy schedule. He also motivated students to donate blood in a very friendly manner. He also took a keen interest in Health Education part of the camp.

Office Bearers of the A.M.U. Students Union were also very enthusiastic about this camp. Professor Ashraf Malik, Chairman, Department of Paediatrics, JNMCH, A.M.U. Inaugurated the camp at 9.00 A.M.
